How to choose a digital marketing agency in Mauritius

October 20, 2026 · 2 min read

Most Mauritian companies now know they need to be active online. Around 886,000 social media user identities were counted in Mauritius in late 2025, almost 70% of the population, according to DataReportal’s Digital 2026 report. The harder question is who should run it. Here are seven questions that separate a good agency from an expensive one.

1. Do they start with a strategy or with a price list?

A serious agency asks about your goals before talking about the number of posts. Do you want more showroom visits, more leads, more subscriptions, or more brand awareness? The plan, the content and the budget should all follow from that answer.

2. Who actually creates the content?

Ask whether photos, videos and visuals are produced in-house or outsourced. In-house production is usually faster and keeps your brand consistent. Ask to see real examples made for real clients, not templates.

3. Can they speak to your audience in its languages?

Mauritius is multilingual. Depending on your audience, the right message may be in English, French or Kreol Morisien, and often a mix. An agency that only writes in one language will limit your reach.

4. How do they handle comments and messages?

Posting is half the job. The other half is community management: replying quickly, moderating, and turning questions in Messenger or Instagram DMs into leads. Ask who replies, how fast, and outside office hours.

5. Do they manage paid campaigns properly?

Pressing the Boost button is not a campaign strategy. A good agency builds targeted campaigns in Meta Ads Manager or TikTok Ads, tests creatives, and adjusts budgets every week based on results.

6. What will the monthly report show?

Insist on a clear monthly report covering reach, engagement, leads and spend, plus what will change next month. If a report only shows likes, it is not telling you whether your money is working.

7. Do they work with your competitors?

This one is often forgotten. An agency handling two competing brands in the same sector has a conflict of interest. Ask directly.

A short checklist

  • A written strategy tied to your business goals
  • In-house content creation with real examples
  • Content in the languages your customers speak
  • Fast, professional community management
  • Proper paid campaigns, not only boosts
  • A monthly report with real numbers
  • No direct competitors in their client list
