Facebook, Instagram or TikTok: where are your customers in Mauritius?
You do not need to be everywhere. You need to be where your customers already spend their time, with content that suits each platform. Here is what the numbers say for Mauritius and how to use them.
The numbers
According to DataReportal’s Digital 2026 report, based on data from late 2025:
- Facebook: an ad audience of about 886,000 people in Mauritius
- Messenger: about 599,000
- LinkedIn: about 630,000 registered members
- Instagram: about 418,000
These are advertising reach figures, not exact user counts, but they show the order of magnitude clearly.
Facebook: still the main stage
Facebook reaches the widest and most varied audience in Mauritius, across all ages. It is the natural home for promotions, events, lives and lead-generation campaigns. Messenger, linked to it, is where many customers ask their questions, so fast replies matter.
Instagram: image and lifestyle
Instagram suits brands with a strong visual side: fashion, food, cars, tourism, beauty. Reels and Stories drive most of the reach. It skews younger than Facebook.
TikTok: reach with short video
TikTok rewards authentic, fast-paced short videos. It can bring very high organic reach to brands willing to show behind-the-scenes moments, people and humour. The content needs to be made for TikTok, not copied from Facebook.
LinkedIn: for B2B and employer branding
If you sell to other companies, recruit, or want to position your management as experts, LinkedIn is worth the effort. Post less often, but with more substance.
How to choose
- Write down who your customer is: age, location, language, B2C or B2B.
- Pick one or two main platforms that match, and do them well.
- Adapt each piece of content to the format of the platform.
- Review the results every month and move budget to what works.
