One well-prepared shoot can feed your social media for weeks. A badly prepared one gives you nice pictures that do not fit any post. Here is the checklist we use before every shoot.
1. Write a short brief
What is the shoot for? A launch, a promotion, a month of regular posts, a recruitment campaign? Note the key messages, the products, and the mood you want.
2. List the formats you need
- Vertical 9:16 for Reels, Stories and TikTok
- Square or 4:5 for the feed
- Horizontal for your website and YouTube
Shooting with all formats in mind avoids awkward crops later.
3. Build a shot list
Write every photo and video you need: product close-ups, product in use, team portraits, behind the scenes, short clips for Reels. Tick them off on the day.
4. Choose the location and time
Your premises, a showroom, a beach or an event space each give a different feel. Outdoors in Mauritius, early morning and late afternoon give the softest light. Check permissions for public places in advance.
5. Prepare people and products
- Clean, labelled products, with spares.
- Staff or models briefed on outfits and timing.
- Signed consent from anyone who appears in the images.
6. Think about video from the start
Short videos usually get more reach than photos. Plan a few 10 to 30 second clips with a clear hook in the first seconds.
7. Plan the edit
Agree on colour style, logo placement and subtitles, since many people watch videos without sound.
NeAD runs product, lifestyle and event shoots at your premises or on location, edited for each social format. See our shoots service or book a shoot.
